What is the Advanced Theater Group

Advanced Theater Group is an audition only opportunity for highly-experienced high school performers in grades 9-12 to add advanced training opportunities to their existing BTW course load. Beginning with a special track during Senior Theater Camp, ATG also includes access to year-round unique master class and special training opportunities. Auditions to join the 2023 Advanced Theater Group will be held on Wednesday, June 7th at The Inserra Theater at St. Joseph Regional High School from 9am-4pm. Students who can't attend the in person audition can email info@btwstars.com for instructions on how to send a video audition.

Broadway Theater Workshops has worked closely with industry professionals throughout its twenty-year history. Many of our alumni have gone on to perform professionally, on Broadway, National Tours, Regionally, and in film and television. Students who are serious about their craft can expect to benefit enormously by being a part of this advanced musical theater camp. As they evolve into mature performing artists, they will also form habits and connections which will serve them all throughout their professional lives.

To kick things off, our first ATG event of the year will be an audition only masterclass with Broadway's Erika Henningsen (Mean Girls, Girls5Eva, Les Miserables) on Monday, May 23rd from 5-8pm at The Inserra Theater at St. Joseph Regional High School in a private masterclass and Q&A. Cost for ATG Students selected to perform is $200 each and community members can purchase general admission tickets for $40 each to observe the masterclass. For more info click here!

Prosper Alongside Peers

Many artforms are typecast as solitary pursuits, but theater is an exception—and for good reason. Life in the world of professional theater is intertwined with the energy of people around us. Of course, this means the audiences we perform for. The people we work with, however, are even more important:  directors, mentors, technical experts, and fellow cast members. Students can make enormous progress through individual lessons in acting and music, but we often see that progress coalesce in Advanced Theater Group as they benefit from the examples and support of similarly dedicated peers.

Who Should Apply for ATG

Students accepted to our Advanced Theater Group are committed young actors in grades 9-12. Having previous stage experience and theater training is a requirement to apply. This is a pre-professional program, designed to support highly motivated young people as they take their abilities to the next level. Students with a passion for theater, performance experience, and a desire to improve should apply to this advanced musical theater training opportunity.

Show Your Skills

Auditions are required for acceptance into the Advanced Theater Group. Since they are auditioning for a competitive advanced program, students should make sure to bring their best. Applications will open up in the spring, at which point fuller details about Broadway Theater Workshops' audition requirements will be available. Keep an eye out for updates!
